Civil Engineer Traffic and Logistics

The Zophia Wind Farm is a combination of green energy, community well-being, and environmental protection. It is located in the southern part of Ukraine in the Yakimivka District of the Zaporizhia region and will start construction of Zophia I and II in July 2021 representing 337.5 MW. Once built and operated, it will produce about 1.25 GWh of electricity, enough to power over 627,000 Ukrainian households. In the future, it can be a 788 MW high impact project with a load factor of +42%.

Civil Engineer Traffic and Logistics Profile

As Civil Engineer Traffic and Logistics, you will be responsible for coordinating between road building schedule, multiple contractor heavy vehicle operations for ongoing project development, traffic control, road closure, convoy management, abnormal load coordination, loading and offloading sites, road condition and repair. There will be approximately 100km of access road and infield roads, multiple industrial areas for fabrication/storage, etc, truck movements into/out of the field of the order of 300/month and abnormal loads delivery.

This position is based in Zaporizhia region of southern Ukraine, with the main office located in Kyiv.

 

Civil Engineer Traffic and Logistics Job Duties:

  • Monitor road construction activities performed by contractors at site on a daily basis to keep overview of road availability
  • Optimise road route usage to maximise construction/logistics efficiency, minimise road damage and ensure suitable road condition for abnormal load delivery
  • Work with contractors to manage efficient abnormal load delivery
  • Optimise road, loading, unloading and manoeuvring areas use to ensure vehicle, driver and pedestrian safety – work with the HSE team
  • Manage interaction with public road users to minimise disruption, minimise public road damage, maintain relationships with road stakeholders, specifically manage the junctions between field roads and public roads – work with the HSE team to protect the company’s reputation and ensure field access control
  • Once roads have been completed by the construction teams, manage road inspection and maintenance
  • Take active role in dialogue with local authorities and road authorities
  • Monitor work progress vs. schedules and act accordingly in case of delays
  • Interact with Technical and Author Supervision representatives
  • Control of compliance of the work performed with design solution
  • Verification of the scope of work from subcontractors
  • Verification of materials and equipment from suppliers
  • Supervise materials acceptance with contractors
  • Participate in Permit to Works meetings with subsequent sign-off of PtWs
  • Provide daily progress reports in coordination with contractors
  • Acceptance of work progress on the site
  • Signing of Acts of hidden works and Acts of completed works from subcontractors
  • Keeping the documentation on the site according to the instruction
  • Demonstrate Safety Leadership by example
  • Participate, contribute and provide leadership in toolbox talks, safety inductions and risk assessments

 

Civil Engineer Traffic and Logistics Skills and Qualifications:

  • Formal qualification in engineering discipline
  • 10 years of experience in road maintenance site supervision, traffic management during road reconstruction and abnormal load management
  • Full understanding of applicable Ukrainian legislation
  • Experience with the topography, road maintenance techniques and contractors of South Eastern Ukraine
  • Experience of managing contractors and sub-contractors
  • Motivated, highly organized individual
  • Strong communication skills for working in a team setting
  • Self-starter who is confident to take a lead and operate in an ambiguous and fast changing environment
  • Happy to spend 75% of outside at site
  • Working language: Ukrainian/Russian; English an advantage; Chinese an advantage
  • Ability to work within a culturally diverse environment
