Finance Manager

The Zophia Wind Farm is a combination of green energy, community well-being, and environmental protection. It is located in the southern part of Ukraine in the Yakimivka District of Zaporizhia region and it comprises three Zophia wind farms: Zophia I (42.5MW), Zophia II (300MW), Zophia III (450MW), with an overall planned capacity of 792 MW. Once built and operational, it will produce enough to power over 340,000 households and will contribute to a saving of 2 million tons of CO2 emissions.
Development, construction, and operation of the wind farm will be done according to internationally recognized technical, environmental and social standards. Due to its size, it will become a flagship project in Ukraine.

Finance Manager Profile

As Finance Manager, you will be responsible for managing and analyzing everyday financial activities and subsequently provide advice and guidance to upper management on future financial plans.

This position is based in Zaporizhia region of southern Ukraine, whereas the main office is located in Kyiv.


Finance Manager Job Duties:

  • Manage the external accountancy company on behalf of the Zophia Project
  • Ensure the external accountancy company has all the correct information about all project-related costs and invoices
  • Verify that the operations team communicates with the external accountancy company in such a way that the they can fulfil all obligations put upon them and issue quarterly and annual reports
  • Be the cost guardian and ensure tight cost control in the Project by verifying that there is a legitimate reason for all expenses and the authorised person responsible for the triggering of the individual expenses
  • Work closely with the Zophia C&P Manager and the Zophia Project Services Manager
  • Study and comply with the terms of Common Terms Agreement, Facility Agreements and other agreements related to the financing and execution of the Project
  • Be responsible for ensuring timely payment of all types of interest and other obligatory payments under the Facility Agreements and other Agreements of the Project
  • Manage and expedite the flow of all invoices for the project and ensure that the invoice flow is managed adequately for the operation team expenditure
  • Work closely with the Project Services Manager and ensure that actuals and forecast are synchronised and harmonised in the excel tool used by the owners to monitor the economics and communicate with the lenders (as referenced above). Help the owners update this tool and other tools & reports relevant for project reporting
  • Plan the project payments so that they satisfy the Ukrainian currency control requirements and manage the currency variation settlement with the various contractors and staff
  • Maintain the records of Foreign Exchange and prepare a currency forecast
  • Be a point of contact for the Banks in Kyiv for all payments and answer all questions they may have
  • Proactively intervene with invoices or contracts that do not meet the Bank’s criteria for payment control
  • Resolve payment issues
  • Run and drive the VAT payment and VAT reimbursement process
  • Be the focal point for the Ukrainian tax office and any external or internal audits conducted
  • Lead one direct report who is there to work with


Finance Manager Skills and Qualifications:

  • Degree level qualification in Finance, Accounting, Economics or other related fields
  • Demonstrable experience (+10 years) as a Finance Manager or other Finance Executive, preferably in a similar capacity on a large renewable, infrastructure project
  • Extensive understanding of financial trends both within the company and general market patterns, as well as solid understanding of financial statistics and accounting principles
  • Proficient user of finance software and fully competent with MS Office Suite
  • Professional qualification such as CFA/CPA or similar will be considered a plus
  • Motivated individual with good communication skills for team working, yet self-sufficient
  • Self-starter who is confident to take a lead and operate in an ambiguous environment
  • Ability to architect strategy along with leadership skills
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical skills
  • Working language: English; Ukrainian/Russian/Chinese an advantage
  • Ability to work within a culturally diverse environment
